Moving is such a crazy time that it is not surprising if you forget some things on your list. However, your banking is one forgotten item that can cause you lots of aggravation just by forgetting one transaction. Miss making a deposit or paying a bill and you could be looking at several late fees and interest charges that cost you 25% or more, annually.

Aside from your monthly bills, there are other tasks that you need to take care of when moving: Setting up new bank accounts is a major one. Some banks are able to conduct your banking remotely, but many customers prefer to be able to walk into a local branch and have a relationship with the manager and other personnel. You may be able to write checks off of an account that isn’t local, but try depositing money, paying utility bills or getting a safety deposit box at a bank 1,500 miles away!
